  • Dance Delight for Crewe-based Competitors

    Talented dancers from Crewe scooped seven awards in the British Dance Organisation (BDO) Championships. Six dancers from The Glasheen Academy (TGA) in Crewe, entered the Street Dance Championships, competing against over 300 dancers from across the West Midlands.   • Irish Luck for Crewe Street Dancers

    Street Dancers from Crewe and Stoke have smashed a national dance competition held in Ireland. Seven dancers from TGA Street Dance, travelled to Dublin to enter the SOAR Street Dance Championships. Competing in the 9-14 age range, the dancers completed a series of heats, before being titled ‘winners’ at the final on Sunday 22nd October, qualifying for World of Dance. The dancers took on a series of fundraising activities as well as secure sponsorship from TGA and Ford Mainwaring Ltd in order to cover the cost of travel and accommodation to participate in the prestigious competition.   • Dancing Dads Qualify for British Championships

    Five Dads from Crewe have joined forces and qualified for the British Dance Organisation’s British Championships in 2018. Training at The Glasheen Academy began three months ago, following an idea from Academy owner, Damian Glasheen. Dynamic Dads have entered and won two competitions in that time, at Manchester and Blackpool, securing a place in the British Championships in the new year. Competing against other parent teams, Dynamic Dads’ winning dance consisted of a routine including four styles – hip hop, whacking, locking and tricking.   • Summer camp

    During the summer holidays , when the kids are often getting bored and wanting to do more activities , we run a week long summer camp. Our summer camp this year was amazing so many different activities involved in the week. We had activities that were made fun , but were also very important for our students. Our students did very important first aid training , which was made fun ,by allowing them to bandage each other up after learning how to do it correctly. We had special guests Zoo2U come in and spoke to our students about the different animals which they bought it with them. They loved being able to hold the animals and ask questions about them.     September saw the launch of our contemporary classes. After a huge success over the past years with Street dance , we decided that with Miss Michaela’s past in other styles of dance , we would offer further styles of dance to our students. Contemporary Dance is a style that focuses on strong emotion and concentrates on the expressiveness of a dancer and allows you to “let go”.     We have worked very hard for many years designing a Street Dance Examination System that is specific to just Street Dance. Our Specially Designed Award System will give all students a chance to perform and follow our unique Curriculum giving them the chance to be rewarded for their efforts. Students have learnt many techniques from the following styles : Street, Hip Hop and Breaking and have had the chance to put them together in exam conditions.   • Dancing Dads from Cheshire smash The Greatest Dancer Auditions

    A team of Dads from Crewe smashed their first audition on BBC One’s prime-time show, The Greatest Dancer, on Saturday night. Dynamic Dads entered the competition, where they performed in front of a mirror, aiming to impress at least 75% of the audience in order for the mirror to open and reveal the audience and judges.
