Street Dancers from Crewe and Stoke have smashed a national dance competition held in Ireland.
Seven dancers from TGA Street Dance, travelled to Dublin to enter the SOAR Street Dance Championships.
Competing in the 9-14 age range, the dancers completed a series of heats, before being titled ‘winners’ at the final on Sunday 22nd October, qualifying for World of Dance.
The dancers took on a series of fundraising activities as well as secure sponsorship from TGA and Ford Mainwaring Ltd in order to cover the cost of travel and accommodation to participate in the prestigious competition.
Dances were judged on a series of categories including their choreography, movement, variety, execution and synchronicity.
A panel of judges also placed all of TGA’s dancers in the top three in their solo and duo dances.
Dancer Yasmin Redican, 14 years old, said: “Being given the opportunity to dance in Dublin and represent TGA in the UK is such an amazing feeling. All of the hard work and dedication we put in, paid off, and we made lots of memories throughout the weekend.”
Choreographer and TGA Street Dance Teacher, Michaela Leanord, said: “After months of excitement and hard work, it was amazing to get the results.
“We took a risk in changing the team routine at the last minute to progress it, which paid off massively.
“The girls have been working so hard and it will be an amazing experience and memories which they be able to hold on to forever.”
Parents of all of the competitors travelled to Dublin to support their children in the competition.
Mother, Andrea Wilkinson, said: “As parents, we are so proud of all of the girls for their achievement. Our daughters Sophie and Milly said that it was the best experience ever to go to Dublin for the competition.
“We would like to thank Mr Glasheen and Miss Michaela from TGA for organising the trip and competition.”
